Founder Body Mind Workouts, yogamat.com

Yoga is a passion for me because I’ve experienced first hand how the practice can enhance one’s entire life – body, mind, and spirit. Yoga -along with my three beautiful daughters- is my pillar, my sanctuary. And I have also seen it bless so many others in the same way.

I feel very fortunate that yoga was introduced to me 20 years ago and privileged also to share yoga by teaching for over 10 years, so when the opportunity arose in 2006 to delve into the yoga community even further through Body Mind workouts, I was thrilled! The business of supplying and supporting yoga instructors, as well as my continued teaching and my personal practice all combine to make me feel very blessed in my life.

I founded Body-Mind Workouts in 1990 in Calgary. I saw the need for a more ready supply of yoga props and supplies for local studios and teachers. Love and care are woven into all our quality products.

Maggie Shull, Certified Yoga Instructor

The decision to become a yogi wasn't one that I consciously made but rather one that unfolded through a series of life events and well-planned timing ( thanks Universe). Cliche as it may be, my practice began as a means to escape, and an attempt to mend, a very broken heart. While I have come to discover that yoga is much more than poses placed skillfully on a mat, it was this physical practice that gave me refuge. At a time in my life when nothing seemed to make sense, yoga did.

The initial step into my first YTT was one fuelled by a longing for something more. I am forever grateful to Rob Walker at the Alberta Yoga College for instilling a sense of curiosity in me and for allowing me to explore the transition from a student to both a student and teacher of yoga. Since graduating from the College I have been incredibly blessed to mentor daily under the gaze of my most cherished yoga teacher Tamara Terry.

Presently, I am completing my 300 RYT with Kate Mak at the Mynah school of yoga. In my classes, I aim to weave the physical practice with music, laughter, mindfulness, and most importantly, love. I will challenge you to move through the asana practice skillfully and ask that you trust yourself enough to move from a place of intention rather than one of habit. From one yogi to another, I would be honored and delighted to share my practice with you.

Personal Training Specialist - Canfit Pro Certified
Yoga Instructor Certified, CPR & AED Certified

My mission is to educate and coach people in taking care of their bodies by fueling their body, mind, and spirit with a wide variety of exercises. My mission became more urgent when my aging parents started facing health issues such as diabetes 2, Guillian Barre Syndrome, Leaky Gut, and Arthritis.  My research kept pointing toward the necessity to exercise, move and nourish our bodies with clean whole nutrient dense nutrition.  This and my love of movement, health, and wellness led me to become a certified yoga instructor and professional training specialist.

I love to work out regularly for many reasons.  The top reasons being it puts me in a great mood, makes my body healthy and strong and clears my mind.  My appreciation and respect for the body and honouring it with physical exercise on a regular basis come from seeing loved ones get sick from lack of exercise, resistance training, proper nutrition and a balanced lifestyle.  Knowing what the flip side to that can do for one’s health and well being is why I advocate exercise and healthy proper movement.  Nurturing the body with a healthy safe movement that protects the spine and joints is one of the key principles in my philosophy of taking care of the body holistically.

I absolutely LOVE and adore everything about yoga because of the physical and mental benefits it offers.  The exercises and philosophy has enriched my life significantly.  I specialize in teaching the gentler yoga styles like Hatha, Yin, Restorative and gentle flow.   Being an active person my whole life the counterbalance of the more meditative, restorative and gentler yoga exercises has helped bring more balance, strength, and peace in my body, mind and spirit.

I look forward to sharing what I have learned about yoga in my 18 years of research and experience with you!.

Namaste.
